Regarding the AD software, I have already learned from engineers and friends, a software that people love and hate. Some engineers who are not particularly rich in PCB design so they have no understanding of some parameters and options of the software, or are not very clear about the process of PCB processing. There are often various problems, or the PCB board factory processes the data according to the conventional method. Can not understand the design intent. Let’s take a look at some of the errors that are easy to make.
1. The shape of the board and the non-metallized slot are visible in the mechanical layer or the KEEPOUT layer. (But the two can only choose one), the KEEPOUT option must not be checked. Tickthe representative to prohibit wiring.
As shown in Figure 1, the mechanical hole is locked. Select the KEEPOUT option. When the GERBER is turned, the mechanical hole will not turn out, which will result in a leak. (Do not select the KEEPOUT option for the PROTEL99SE form factor)

2. As shown in Figure 2, the mechanical holes and slots are placed in the Mutilayer layer pcb. The Cutout nature is that there are slots and holes in the 3D diagram, but the GERBER cannot be turned out normally, which will result in leaks. It is recommended to put it in the KEEPOUT layer or the mechanical layer to design a solid line. As shown in Figure 3, but remember not to choose the KEEPOUT option.

3. The square hole shown in Figure 4 is Altium Designer. The high and low versions are not part-time. The square slot is displayed as a square hole. The slot/hole of the insert is drilled with a circular drill. Therefore, the square groove and the square hole cannot be produced. The GERBER file comes out as a round hole. It is recommended to design a SLOT slot with reference to Figure 5.

- Due to the large number of AD software versions, and inversions often appear in each version. The most outrageous is that the high version is not even compatible with the low version. Yes, you are not mistaken “high version may not be compatible with the low version”, for which we recommend that the customer output the GERBER file, check and then place the order, if it is not output, please be sure to specify the version of the design software when placing the order
